The laboratory research of work of the cooling device with U-type horizontal evaporator made from copper tubes with 20 and 14 mm diameter and 7.5 m length as well as with 4 mm diameter and 5 and 10 meters length has been fulfilled. The description of experimental installation, the observable modes of the coolant stream and the obtained degree of cooling of the evaporator has been reported. The observations have demonstrated that the steady circulation of coolant and the effective cooling are reached, when stratified mode of phase current exists in the whole area of biphasic stream in evaporator. The initial assumptions have been formulated and the estimated calculation method of temperature distribution along an evaporator pipe has been suggested. The comparison of estimated values with experimental data has been made.

Key words: Cooling device, condenser, evaporator, biphasic streams, hydraulic resistance, saturation temperature, heat exchange, cooling.
