The comparative analysis was carried out for the data of the observed snow storage over the East European plain and Scandinavia and the data restored from satellites. The range of errors for the restored data is estimated and their reasons are determined. Typification of errors for air temperature is fulfilled. The developed method for the estimation of reliability of the restored data is suggested to be used for the selection of the representative satellite data for snow cover studies.

Key words: Snow storage, satellite information, observated and restored data, typification of errors.
