The paper discusses construction related problems arising from the Arctic continental shelf development and exploitation of petroleum reservoirs. The proposed solutions to these problems consist in new engineering design for ice and soil ice artificial islands, and for production wells exerting no thermal effect on the surrounding subsurface. These islands allow to maintain high safety of production operations and to develop offshore areas at depths not accessible by steel and concrete fixed platforms.
